School Starts; We Start a 100 Mile Challenge

So this school year started with new shelving units.  We had (and still have) too many books.  Our school room was crowded.  The shelves go up to the ceiling.  We have enough rows for grade k-12 and then some.  This year the start to the school year is strong.  We are motivated and the kids are learning from adventure.

We started walking more.  In fact, everyone except that baby baby is walking for several miles at a time. William, our two year old, although a little slower can go three miles without stopping.

Katie and I started getting up early on Saturdays so that we could get to the parks early and start hiking before everyone shows up.  After several of these early morning hikes, we made it a point to walk as much as we could.  Now in the second week of school, we decided to challenge ourselves.

At first we thought we’d try getting to 100 miles before the end of the year.  So that became our goal and once we hit it we will do something fun with the kidlets.  We’ve hit close to 15 miles since setting the challenge up last week.  There’s no doubt we will hit it and now I wish we had chosen a longer distance.
